v1.0 for After Effects CC
Prolost CDL is a free After Effects preset that allows numerical entry of CDL, or Color Decision List, values. The CDL standard was created by the American Society of Cinematographers to facilitate the communication of basic color adjustments between various applications and facilities.
Long ago, I designed a free version of Magic Bullet Colorista that was CDL compatible, in the spirit of the ASC’s open standard. This product has long been discontinued, so I created this free preset to replace it.
Prolost CDL uses two Levels effects and a Color Balance (HLS) effect to recreate the CDL color transforms. If you delete or re-order these effects, the color adjustment will not be accurate. The expressions that link the CDL values to the effects are simple and left un-obfuscated for your perusal.
This preset only works in After Effects. If you need CDL corrections in Premiere Pro, there’s a built-in effect that does it.
To install Prolost CDL, place it in your User Presets folder.
When you download Prolost CDL, you’ll be given an opportunity to name your price. Enter zero to download it for free, with my compliments.
For iOS and Android.
I got frustrated that I couldn't find any decent, simple tip calculator apps that worked the way I wanted, so I made my own using CalcApp.
- For bills $10 and over, the total is a palindrome.
- For split bills, the per-person total is rounded up to the nearest dollar.
- Prolost Tip is a free web app that you can install on your home screen, and even use offline.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Can I add Prolost Tip to my iPhone Home Screen?
Yes! Here's how.
How do I enter a decimal on iPhone?
I have feature requests.
Consider making your own app. It’s free (for now), and fun.
What about an Android version?
Boom. Done. Don't get used to it.
How is this free?
CalcApp is in public beta. For now, the service and the apps it makes are free. I'm told I will be able to offer this app for free even after CalcApp starts charging for their service, which is very cool.
I don’t tip.
